The 2019 Judah Folkman Scientist-in-Residence program will kick off on Friday, October 25 for an all-day science affair at Bexley High School. This is the 19th year for the program, which was funded by the BEF’s Dr. Judah Folkman (Class of 1950) Science Endowment Fund and is aimed at introducing Bexley students to the wide range of career opportunities in the sciences.
This year’s visiting scientists-in-residence are Dr. Alex Matrka a 2006 graduate of Bexley High School and Orthopedic Surgery Resident at the Mayo Clinic; Dr. Michael Williard, a 1978 graduate of Bexley High School, specializes in shoulder reconstruction at Orthopedic One; Dr. Joel Politi specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery at Orthopedic One and founded COSI’s surgical suite; Dr. Curtis Henn a 2001 graduate of Bexley High School and surgeon at MedStar Georgetown University, specializing in hand surgery.
