One of Bexley High School’s best known alumni, the worldwide bestselling author of the Goosebumps series as well as the Fear Street, Mostly Ghostly and Nightmare Room series, R. L. Stine will celebrate the launch of his new middle grade graphic novel series, Just Beyond by returning to Columbus over the weekend of September 14 -15, 2019.

Bexley bookseller, Gramercy Books is bringing Stine back to his hometown for several weekend festivities, including an 11:30am ticketed screening of Goosebumps 2 at Bexley’s historic Drexel Theater on Sunday, September 15. The movie will be followed by an author talk and book signing. Tickets are $20 and available through the Eventbrite website. Each ticket includes the movie, author talk, a copy of Just Beyond, and book signing with Mr. Stine. Additional books by R. L. Stine will be available for purchase at the event.

Stine, BHS Class of ’61, has returned to the Bexley Schools several times over the years including visits with students in 1995, 1999 and 2013 (to mark the 30th anniversary of the Bexley Education Foundation). He was the first alumnus to establish an endowment fund with the Bexley Education Foundation. The R.L. Stine Endowment Fund for Creative Writing Fund has supported a writer-in-residence program at all Bexley elementary schools, a scary story writing workshop and the development of plays by Cassingham elementary students based on Stine’s short story, Dear Bully.  The fund recently supported the purchase of graphic novels for Bexley Middle School readers and will support a writing workshop with author Elly Swartz (Give & Take, Finding Perfect and Smart Cookie) for Maryland Elementary students in December 2019.
