USAF Dental Technician: Jeanetta “Cricket” Dell-Short, BHS ’70, Mrs. Jeanetta “Cricket” Dell-Short, of Columbus, OH, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the age of 63, after a very swift but very courageous battle with cancer. Cricket was born to parents John and Jane Dell on March 26, 1952 in Columbus, OH. She grew up as the youngest of three siblings, and attended Bexley High School. After serving in the USAF as a dental technician during the Vietnam War, she transitioned to being a mother, and had two children. After an extended courtship, she married her sweetheart, David Short in 2010. Cricket is survived by her sweetheart, David Short; her dedicated and loving son, Chris Ruthstrom and his wife, Kelley (Blaser); her loving and free spirited daughter, Cori Ruthstrom-Brown and her husband, Chris (Brown); her brother and sister, John Dell Jr. and Susanne Potts; children-in-law, Josh and Chrissy Short, as well as Jake and Anna Short; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents John Charles Dell and Jane Ellen (Barlow) Dell. At Cricket’s request, there is no funeral or showing scheduled, and a private gathering will be held at a later date. Cricket was a very passionate advocate for the Humane Society and various Animal Rescue Organizations. She also loved vacations on the beach with David and her Golden Retriever “JC” at the Outer Banks, NC, as well as swimming with her grandchildren when they visited. The family is very grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations, but requests that you have, as she was fond of saying, a “Fantabulous Day”.
